Teaching Ideas

 

• List strange things people eat such as snails, frogs' legs etc. Why do we think these are strange?
• Discuss various euphemisms used in food.  Make a list, e.g. lambs fry instead of liver.
• What is a tango? Use the dictionary to find out. See if you can find a film of people actually dancing it
• In the bars where beat one is a rest, try and work out some body percussion you could put in that spot, e.g. finger clicks, or untuned percussion such as castanets
• Pick a country and research common food there
• Go through a recipe book and find two recipes you would love to make/eat and two you would hate
• Why is fishing the most dangerous sport? Discuss. Talk about types of fishing - rock, beach, river- and dangers of each
